Take some time to thank God for the freedom we have as you celebrate Independence Day with barbecues and fireworks this year. This collection of prayers for July 4th focuses on celebrating our freedom, thanking those who served in our military, and praying for our nation.
As Christians, we can thank God for both the physical and spiritual freedom that Jesus Christ has given us. Let’s use this vacation to remind ourselves of the true freedom that we can experience. As you enjoy the July 4th celebrations and celebrate our nation’s freedom, offer a prayer of thanks to God for the freedom from sin He has given you and for the new life we have in him – for today and for them Eternity. Share these prayers with your family and friends as you get together to celebrate the holiday.
A July 4th prayer for our nation
Sovereign Lord, I raise our nation to you. You have blessed us and founded us from the beginning. You were our shield and our protective cover. You made us a great nation on this earth.
Our ancestors honored you in historical documents, solemn oaths, and in courtrooms. Songs have been written to proclaim your glory in our beautiful land. Their rules were the foundation on which this land was built. You were our power, our justice, our freedom and our victory.
We bend our knees and our hearts to thank you for keeping us. We also bow with contrite hearts because we do not give you the honor and praise you deserve. Because you are not walking in your ways. Forgive us Lord. Have mercy on our merciful Father. We have sinned, committed injustice, acted wickedly and rebelled, and even turned away from Your commandments and ordinances. (Daniel 9.5)
I lift up all who are in office in this land, all who have authority, and pray that you will protect them and give them wisdom, knowledge and discernment for their duties. I suspend our military, our intelligence agencies, and everyone in law enforcement, and pray for your protection over them. Give reasons for their steps, Lord. Strengthen them and equip them. Bless them and their families.
Father, you alone are our hope and our future. Turn the hearts of Americans to you. In Jesus name, amen. (by Lyn Cooke)
Prayer of the patriot
Thank you, Lord, for the men and women who gave their lives for the freedom of the republic in which we live today. Help me to be as brave and brave as they were when it is my turn to protect this country.
Prayer for a strong nation
Thank you that we can freely worship in our nation today. We are free to pray. We are free to read your word. We are free to speak. We are free to share. We are incredibly grateful for that. However, we understand how quickly these freedoms can be taken away. Give us greater awareness of the spiritual battle we are in. Help us to stand strong in you and for your purposes.
Thank you that we as believers can be sure that you will never leave us and will always be with us, in this life and in the next.
Thank you for your truth, which is that whoever the son releases is indeed free! We know that true freedom is found in you alone. In Jesus name we pray: Amen. (by Debbie McDaniel)
A prayer for America
Dear God, thank you for your great power. We praise you for your truth. We are grateful that you have freed us from the grip of sin and death.
Would you be with your people, extend your grace, grant your freedom, offer your protection and strengthen with your strength. We ask you to bring about an awakening of your presence like it has never been seen before. We ask that your name be proclaimed so that all plans to silence the name of Jesus will be thwarted and crushed.
We pray that many will get to know you as Lord and Savior, we pray that many will see your light, that you will open blind eyes and release those who are still prisoners.
We pray that you will unite your people in honor of your name, that all who call themselves Christians will stand up and believe your great truth.
Wake us up, Lord! Remind us to live consciously, to redeem time, to listen to your words and to be ready to make a difference in this land.
We pray for those in authority that you will give them your wisdom and judgment as they lead. We ask you to appoint strong, loyal men and women to serve this nation and our people.
We pray for your great healing on our land. Let your face shine on us, dear God. We need you now, more than ever. Our time is in your hands.
Thank you for being rich in mercy and full of grace. Thank you for being forgiving and compassionate. Thank you for being strong and mighty. Thank you for being with us and fighting for us today.
Honor your name, O Lord, for you alone are worthy. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray: Amen. (by Debbie McDaniel)
A prayer that God’s will be done in our nation
Lord… remind us today that You have shown us what is good in what You ask of us; to act righteously, to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God. We ask that we humble ourselves as a people before you and seek your will for our lives and for this great nation. Help us in our country to work like never before to strengthen our families and give our children hope and a moral foundation for the future. So may our desire be to serve you and serve one another in the process. We pray this in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. (by Billy Graham)
Thank you for our freedom
Thank you Lord for the privilege of living in this great country where we are free to openly worship you. May we never take this privilege for granted, but always preserve and cherish it. May we not live in apathy for you, but live in awe of your love and forgiveness which has been freely poured out on us. Let our light shine brightly when our hearts turn to you. In Jesus name we pray, amen. (by Dena Johnson)
