Planted in love and built on love
A high school student who was wise beyond his years once wrote a short story about an elderly scientist. This scientist had spent his life mapping neural pathways for the most common thought processes. Finally, shortly after he finishes, he discovers the process that was not included in his studies, the most important one: love. And in a ending not unlike Simeon in the temple, once the man has found the meaning of life, he peacefully breathes his last breath. Today’s festival is all about love. It is about the infinite and passionate love that Jesus Christ has for each of us. It is a love that is ready to suffer and even die for the beloved (you and me). And it is a love that wants to be recognized and shared and grown. As St. Paul says, may we know the love of Christ and be filled with the “full fullness” of God.
