The children of God
We should rejoice to be called children of God, as Paul did in his letter to the Romans. We should also strive to be adult children, for that is surely what God wants for us. In this way, we hold together an absolute fidelity to God while taking seriously our own experiences, including our ability to be curious and reasonable.
That is certainly Jesus’ invitation when he heals and thus frees the bound. When Jesus delivered this 18-year-old woman crippled by an evil spirit, Jesus opened up the opportunity to praise God in new and special ways because of all the creative goodness she will use and experience. Fully human, fully alive, living in the light of God’s love.
