Naomi Campbell had to “sacrifice” for her career to find a “soul mate”.
The 51-year-old supermodel was never married but was previously engaged to U2 bassist Adam Clayton and businessman Flavio Briatore and has been romantically linked to Leonardo DiCaprio, Usher, Robert DeNiro, Skepta and Liam Payne, and she has admitted to their personal lives has suffered from her commitment to her work.
When asked what she sacrificed, she said to The Cut, “I would say the sacrifice is to really find that soulmate who understands you. It’s really like when they look at you you feel like you are strong … you know I am strong, but I am also sensitive. I know I have to compromise in relationships. “
But Naomi – who announced in May that she had become the mother of a little girl through a surrogate mother – insisted she’s not alone as she has a great support system.
She said, “I’m not out here alone. It’s easy and it’s small. To be with your loved ones who just want to enjoy the time. I want my friends to thrive. You want to protect those you love .
“And especially when I speak to people and need help, understanding and guidance, it is important that I remember to say ‘thank you’.
“You never know when you might need this person again to help or guide you.”
And the founder of Fashion For Relief finds it convenient to be out and about in the world, as she feels that travel has “saved” her.
She said, “I feel like traveling saved my life in so many ways. I am not afraid of the world. I see the world as an optimistic dream.
“I am a citizen of the world.”
