How wonderful is the trust a child has in the love of its parents. This is how God wants us to be – as a child who trusts God’s constant care and attention. James and John did not have this unconditional trust in Jesus, but he assured them that if they were to be great they would have to be servants. Baptism would give them the grace to endure in times of need.
So it is with us. We are called to trust that God is our Protector, who will free us from our fears and trials and save us from all our problems. In return, he wants our closeness and our constant trust in his mercy in all seasons of our lives. Let’s ‘look at him and shine’.
