St. Thomas

Ephesians 2: 19-22. Go out into the whole world and preach the good news – Ps 116 (117). John 20: 24-29.

If I don’t see and touch, I refuse to believe

St. Thomas was unreasonable and stubborn, of course, but deep down he loved the Lord dearly. At least he stayed with the other apostles, who no doubt prayed for him, even though their joy at the resurrection of Jesus seemed like a wet blanket to them.

Our Lord appeared in a special way for his sake and Thomas made his great act of faith – “My Lord and my God”. He soon went out to “bring the good news” and give his life.

How do we deal with people who have difficulty believing? Are we patient like the apostles and our Lord? Do we pray for them? Do we thank God for the gift of our faith? My lord and my god.
