Any plant that my Heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted

The German poet Johann Goethe tells us. “The things that are most important must never be at the mercy of the things that are least important.” In this encounter with these Pharisees, Jesus does not try to overturn the tradition or the ritual for the sake of the cause, but asks his disciples to question whether it is from the Father. He tells us that the work and goodness of God should not be handed over to anyone else.

God has given us many things in creation, in our relationships, and in worship. But we are always called to distinguish. Do I get involved in things that are least important? Things that are not from God?

Lord Jesus, give me the wisdom to know what is of you and the courage to challenge what is not.
