Praise be to God who has filled my soul with life!

Saint Clare was born into a wealthy and distinguished family, but found her life not in material things but in her relationship with God. She spent most of the rest of her life trying, against all odds, to maintain the simple, dispossessing manner of prayer that was so good for her spirit. It’s surprising how many people wanted her to relax their ideal of poverty, including prelates and popes. Perhaps many of us would also be ashamed of their commitment. However, I imagine that when we truly find God we are so filled with life that only material things get in the way. It is love relationships that keep people on the sidelines. Let us seek out true life today and affirm it in others.
