A sower went out to sow

It is extremely difficult to maintain an analogy. Most of us can come up with a fair, passing parable or metaphor at one point or another that is beyond the level of cliché, but it takes the divine genius of Jesus to sustain a series of closely related images with a common theme and that way one thorough analysis of man to deliver nature in all its unpredictability. The explanation of the parable in today’s gospel is found shortly afterwards in Matthew 13: 18-23, and we would do well to read it to understand the point: The evangelical hope for life cheers many people who later lose any practical interest in it . The message is that we must incorporate faith into all aspects of life and be constantly in search of God’s presence, will, and plan for our lives. We must be the good soil that continues to yield a bountiful harvest.
