Are We Ready to Love Fully?
It is striking to see that we do not need any commandments or laws when we live with love. To love another means to want the good of the other, to desire for him only that which leads him to the fullness of the relationship with God. It’s about arranging and aligning everything in the context of this life-giving relationship.
When Jesus says the striking words that “we must hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes and even life itself” in order to be His disciples, we shrink back a little. It seems that we need to take these words as our guide. We are asked to consider whether we are willing to let our lives and all of our constitutive relationships flow out of our relationship with God. Are we ready to love fully and completely unconditionally?
