PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – As more people return to town, both commuters and tourists will want to try this bustling new soul food place that has a connection to the previous one.
Ma Lessie’s Chicken & Waffles is now occupying the KeVen Parker’s Soul Food Cafe booth.
Owner Perry Ison had a longstanding relationship with the previous owner as the shop’s former manager.
When Parker died earlier this year, Ison took over the place, naming it after his great-grandmother Lessie Collins.
Their spotlight dish is chicken and waffles, but all soul food favorites are lined up and ready to go.
