Lakeview alumnus Jordan Thomas remembered for his loving, caring spirit

Wilson said he’ll never forget a memory he shared with Thomas when the two were in seventh grade. He remembers walking barefoot through his family’s farm in pitch black with his friend, both screaming at the top of their necks. They didn’t run away from anything, said Wilson, they only lived in the moment.

“Jordan loved everyone,” he said. “He would never say bad things about anyone. He was an outstanding person. I want everyone to know that if they met you for five minutes or if they knew you all their life, they would treat you the same way.

Rena Millwood, whose children played sports with Thomas at Lakeview, started a fundraiser on GoFundMe to commemorate the young man. To date, nearly $ 7,000 of the $ 20,000 goal has been raised. Millwood said the money is intended to ease the burden of the Thomas family and help pay for everything they need, including a funeral and lifetime achievement celebration.

“He was just a cute boy who just cared about everyone and loved everyone,” she said. “He always had a smile on his face and a hug.”

Thomas is the son of Patty and Tim and brother of Jayden and Johnathan.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, February 4th at 2 p.m. at the Torch Worship Center in Demorest, followed by the burial in the Holly Springs Baptist Church cemetery.

Those unable to attend in person can check it out on the McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home Facebook page. The family will be greeted with friends at the funeral home at 175 VFW Road in Cornelia on Wednesday, February 3rd from 3pm to 8pm.

Flowers are accepted or donations can be made in memory of Thomas at Alpha Tau Omega, 207 Wildwood Drive, Statesboro, GA 30458 or Lakeview Athletics Department, 796 Lakeview Drive, Gainesville, GA 30501.
