Many who are first will be last and the last will be first

It can be a tough job at times to be true to God, to your faith, to what God has in store for you. I have just spoken to a friend who made the difficult decision to leave an organization that had changed its structure and no longer lived up to its values. Your values are Jesus values - last thing first. In the first reading, God reassured Gideon, although he saw himself as the weakest, God brought him over the line. In the gospel, too, the disciples were a little unsure, would they be recognized for making any sacrifices to follow Jesus? Again, Jesus assures you that not only will you be repaid 100 times, you will inherit eternal life! God’s challenge to them and to us now is to focus on including the weak in our community – providing equal access to the riches of the world. We can pack this away in our community and sometimes focus on the vulnerable costs we face in the competitive landscape of society. We can only trust that eternal life is ready for those who hold fast to their Jesus principles. You are actively bringing about the kingdom of God here on earth.
