Zechariah 8: 20-23. God is with us – Psalm 86 (87). Luke 9: 51-56.
Jesus, you are always misunderstood
In today’s gospel we see you as an ordinary wanderer who suffers the human disappointment of being turned away from a village because of racial prejudice. And you don’t do anything about it. Your friends expect a little more, but they don’t understand you either. The last thing you want is aimless one-sidedness.
Luke indicates that from that moment on you will be on your way to Jerusalem. Soft. Accept. But determined.
You are entirely committed to the will of your father. In Jerusalem. On the cross. To me. With no guarantee that you will not be misunderstood either.
